Aug. 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day

Fort Zumwalt School District is committed to arming our students and families with information that benefits the health and wellness of our community. It’s the reason we have prescription disposal bags available in all of our clinics. Proper disposal of prescription medication is one step we can all take to help stem the tide of overdoses in St. Charles County. You can contact any of our schools to learn about the availability of these free bags in our school clinics. St. Charles County Ambulance District also has a supply of bags, which can properly dispose of 10-15 tablets at a time, at each station and at their headquarters.

Should you have the need to dispose of more than just one or two prescriptions, the following police departments have drop boxes where you can deposit medications for proper disposal: St. Charles City, St. Charles County, O'Fallon, Wentzville and Lake St. Louis.

We also share this video in an effort to do our part to increase awareness of opioid and heroin addiction in our community.
