Business students shine

East High team at competition

North High team at competition

West High team at Competition

South team

Fort Zumwalt Business students from each of our four comprehensive high schools made an outstanding showing at a recent regional competition. Members of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) may compete in more than 50 areas, which are in several different categories and feature specific events for younger students, who are unlikely to have taken as many business courses as a junior or senior.

East placed in 10 events with 11 members. Five qualified to attend the State FBLA Conference. North placed in 15 events with 16 members and 10 qualified for state. South placed in 33 events with 45 members and 20 qualified for state. West placed in seven events with 13 members.

Online Testing Events test the knowledge of the students on many different topics. Accounting, Advertising, Business Calculations, Business Communication, Business Law, Business Procedures, Computer Problem Solving, Cyber Security, Economics, Healthcare Administration, Insurance and Risk Management, Networking Concepts, Personal Finance and Securities & Investments.

Members create presentations or speeches on specific topics and present before judges for the Performance Events category. These events include Business Ethics, Client Service, Emerging Business Issues, Impromptu Speaking, Introduction to Business Presentation, Public Service Announcement, Public Speaking, Sales Presentation and Social Media Campaign.

In Skills Events events, members must create business documents based on information provided to them. These events include: Computer Applications, Database Design & Application, Spreadsheet Applications and Word Processing.

Most of the Reports, Case Study Events require members to create documents, presentation, videos, or take a Team online test. These events include: Banking & Financial Systems, Business Financial Plan, Business Plan, Digital Video Production, Electronic Career Portfolio, Entrepreneurship, Future Business Leader, Global Business, Graphic Design, Help Desk, Hospitality Management, Job Interview, Management Decision Making, Marketing, Parliamentary Procedure, Publication Design, Sports & Entertainment Management and Website Design.

Congratulations to all of our business students who participated, and best of luck at state!
